 July and August have been good to me!! June was a bit of a dry spell for me as far as having any luck at a rodeo. My training and selling horses has been wide open all year and still doing strong. I kicked off a winning streak in Barton, MS over the 4th of July weekend. We were contracted to bring our arena and 20 bucking bulls to 3 day event. Friday night was a Bulls & Barrels. I chose to run Perks N Firewater (Venetta) and she won it by .5 to collect a nice check and beautiful belt buckle. Saturday was a $1,000 added 4-D barrel race. I ran Perks N Firewater (Venetta) again and added Donnies Special Show (Boots) to the line up. Venetta won the barrel race by .3 and Boots was also in the 1-D with a bobble at 3rd that kept her from placing. July 18-19 Tuscaloosa, AL is one of our (DCR) rodeos. I consider this one of my hometown rodeos. I ran Peaches N Pie on Friday night and after a tough group of girls was placing 2nd at the end of the night. After Saturdays performance I ended up 4th on the weekend. July 25-26 I entered the PRCA/WPRA rodeo in Philadelphia, MS and IPRA/SPRA Pittsboro, MS. Peaches ran great both nights and pulled off a 5th place finish at Philadelphia and a 4th at Pittsboro. August 8-9 Peaches placed 3rd at Huntsville, AL and WON the IPRA/SPRA in Ripley, MS. These wins helped move us from #8 in the SPRA standings to #3. Even though she pulled a shoe during our run at Huntsville that didn't phase her at Ripley. At Ripley I took an exhibition run on Perks N Firewater and she ran .03 off Peaches :) | |
